Swordfish, also called the Broadbill, is a predatory, large, migratory fish, whose characteristics are the flat and long bill. The swordfish is popular amongst all sport fishermen. They have a round and elongated body and by the time they reach their adulthood, they happen to lose all their scales and teeth. They belong to the Xiphiidae family. They are of 14 feet nine inches in size max and weigh 1,400 pounds each.
The name of swordfish is derived from the term sword because of its physique, which is streamline and this assist it to cut and swim through the water in an agile and easy way. It uses its sword to defend itself from its prey and for a catch. It basically depends on its speed, which is the greatest and reaches up to 50 mph. it uses its sword bill for protecting itself from all its predators. The shortfin mako shark is amongst the fastest that can chase a swordfish and kill it but at the end of the day, the swordfish is always the winner.
Strengths of a swordfish
A swordfish is powerful and a vigorous species. When it is in the form of a harpoon or a hook, it can dive at such a quick speed that impales the sword up to the eyes, once it is deep down in the ocean.
