Basketball is played within a court, with a ball and presence of hoops in the court. The ball is dribbled and thrown at the attached hoop to make a score. You can play basketball alone or even with a team. A team consists of 5 players, each assigned with a position, inclusive of 2 point guards, 1 center and 2 forwards.
How the game is played
A basketball team has to score by throwing the ball in the basket attached by the hoop. To make the score, a player has to maneuver and dribble the ball on the court, bypassing and defending it from the opponent team. After this, he or she shoots the ball on the team hoop. You have to dribble the ball with one hand and then pass it to other players. If you stop dribbling, you have passed it on. You cannot stop dribbling.
Two teams
If you possess the ball then you are the offense, whereas, the other team is the defense. As an offense, you have to score, wherein, your defense team will try to stop you from making a score or shooting a basket. Rebound occurs when a shot is missed. When the defense team manages to acquire the possession of the ball, then it is known as a turnover.
Basketball can be played by amateurs to professionals and if played by professionals, then it becomes a refereed game. This game is played within set rules and regulations. You cannot foul, which is an act of offense and if a referee strikes a foul, the player is allowed to throw a free shot without any defense from the opponent team. This is a timed game, which is played in either 4 quarters or even in 2 halves. Basketball is one of the most loved games, played by players of all ages!
