How is Bat Different from Birds?

A bat according to the dictionary is a bird though in reality it is a mammal. The definition given by the dictionary for a bat is not based on the biological aspect. Bat is a mammal or bird?
In the ancient period when people called the bat a bird it was understandable and logical. In the modern world one would not describe it as a bird. There is a major difference in modern and ancient science.

Differences between a bat and a bird
• The bird flies in a flapping motion whereas the bat’s wings are motioned more like a breaststroke.
• The membrane in the bat’s wing is visible where as in the bird it is not.
• The skin on the wings of the bat is transparent. In the bird it’s not.
• The function of the finger of the bat is to spread the wings out.
• The wing of the bat is very similar to that of a human hand. The wings of the bird on the other hand are comprised of short bones which act as a support feature.
