The duration for which alcohol stays in the body depends mainly on the amount of the alcohol consumed, the consumption capacity of a body, intake of water and the number of times one has visited rest room. Generally, it is believed that the body takes around one hour to process one unit of alcohol, which is half a pint but the actual time and the figures vary from person to person. It takes anything from 2 hours onwards for the alcohol to be metabolized and excreted through liver and kidneys.
The duration for which alcohol stays in body depends on the following factors:
• The health of the individual – People with a good health and strong liver can take higher quantities of alcohol and process it in a better way. Usually a person with good liver takes about an hour to process half a pint of alcoholic drink.
• Consumption of food and beverages – The amount of water consumed and snacks eaten by the individual will influence the processing of alcohol in body. With food and water, the effect of alcohol can be reduced to a greater extent.
• Visit to restroom – It is believed that the more the individual goes to washroom the better it will be to get over the alcohol and allow it to move out of the body fast.
There is no way of telling the exact time for which the alcohol stays in the human body, as it is different for every individual. The more one drinks, the more time it takes for alcohol to leave the body.
