Cutting glass can be an easier task if you are taking a small piece of glass. However, if the shape in which you wish to cut the glass is a bit complicated, then you will require heavy machinery and equipments.
Things required to cut glass
Glass cutter, goggles, glass cutting mat, pencil, tape and the pattern in which you want to cut it.
Steps to cut a glass
Wash the uncut glass thoroughly and then dry it off so that any particulate matter can be removed from it.
Now make the shape in which you wish to cut the glass by either taping pattern to underside of glass or by making it with the grease pencil on glass. Try to select shapes which are straighter.
Position the glass cutter properly on surface of glass and place the cutting wheel exactly perpendicular towards the surface.
You should start up with the one edge of the glass sheet and take the glass cutting tool along with your pattern to the other side of the sheet.
Now snap glass by placing pencil below the score line and apply pressure on both sides of the glass.
Position the cutter on the edge which is newly created and again score a line to the other edge of sheet.
Continue to score your edge line through the glass sheet so that you can get the desired cut. If there are many series of straight cuts involved, you can get cleaner cuts which will give a more finished look.
You need to keep snapping the lines from one edge to the other till the time you have completely freed pattern from surrounding glass.
With the help of all above mentioned steps, you can get a neat and clean patterned glass which can be used by you for any kind of desired purposes.
